The open workshop/session-like atmosphere is meant to welcome artists to come together in an open jam format and to network and form collaborations together.

OPEN OFFICE HOURS

Time: 5-7pm EST | Tuesday evenings

Location: Saratoga Arts, 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

IMPROV SPACES hopes that the Open Office Hours at Saratoga Arts can help to build a community of interdisciplinary collaborators and serve as a hub in the region and provide resources for new music that introduces the practice of interdisciplinary improvisation to the general public.

Mics and amplification will be provided so that the sessions can be recorded for the artists. Musicians and others are also invited to bring their own equipment. The Open Office Hours differ from an open mic format in that they are session workshop opportunities for artists to create together and be in informal conversation about their practice. Are you a composer with a framework for improvisation that you want to test out? Do you want to meet potential collaborators for a piece or band? Do you want to explore interdisciplinary practice or something new? Open Office Hours are here for you to explore and free to join.

IMPROV SPACES will also present performances at the Theater at Saratoga Arts upcoming. Please check back for upcoming programs.

IMPROV SPACES provides space and opportunities for performance, practice and workshops for musicians and interdisciplinary artists involved with improvisation. They also aim to introduce the public to the broad range of improvised music including folk, jazz, classical, and pop music and through sounds and textures, expanding beyond traditional musical concepts like harmony and form.
